Thyroid tuberculosis: rare location or rarely diagnosed? Literature review

Objective — to study of the frequency, clinical picture, diagnosis and treatment tuberculosis thyroid gland.
 Materials methods. Analyses date world experience own observations.
 Results discussion. Thyroid is a less frequent localization this disease. Currently, most authors believe that diagnosed in 0.1–1 % all known cases tuberculosis. Clinical observations have found gland more often involved tuberculous process with generalized miliary process, and, as previously thought, case there are no signs damage gland. A variable presentation was demonstrated. It usually presented local symptoms associated diffuse enlargement difficult estimate quantity due insufficient knowledge doctors about pathology difficulties etiology diagnosis. Tuberculous must be ruled out lesions on median surface neck. Fine-needle biopsy can help confirm tuberculosis, but final possible only histological or cytological studies. The tuberculo­sis requires use methods used tuberculosis: from simplest (such X-ray Mantoux test (with 2 international units tuberculin) modern rapid molecule-genetic tests XpertMTB/Rif detect specific fragments MTB DNA serum plasma).
